Dark Matter Of The Web

So I finally watched The Social Network today. Gave it a 710 (“Good”) on Jinni.

I have to admit, I was biased against the movie for daring to us my favorite song in their trailer:

I don’t know, but I’m interested to find out how accurate the movie (and the book) are, especially the origin stories for both Facebook and Napster. Is all human progress really sublimated sexual energy?

Nerdiest thought that crossed my mind while watching the movie? vim is better than emacs.

I both love and hate the attention that IP law gets in this movie. I mean, it’s awesome that IP law plays a part in a major movie, but it’s used as a weapon of jealousy and vengeance, not as a tool of progress.

Anyway, now I just need to watch Black Swan to knock out my Oscars Best Picture catch-up.

Prepping The Batcave

Yes, I’m preemptively naming the apartment Joe M and I just got, after a frustrating search of over a month. This place is pretty nice. It’s actually an in-law unit built into a converted garage, but that’s about par for the course for the price range we were looking at. The bedrooms are decent size. We have a living room, which is a step above several other places we looked at (which is really nice, so we can entertain guests). Also, the location is great — we’re two blocks from the beach and right on the L line.

We’re gonna go sign some papers and make things official today before we head to the Halloween madness. Already set up a Comcast install for tomorrow morning so we have internet ASAP, and I’ll probably start moving stuff tomorrow, too. Hopefully, the place won’t look like this anytime soon -
