Bad Hair Day

So hungry… and arms so sore… but must keep posting… You guys don’t know the sacrifices I make for you. :)

Thursday… the start of the fun! Woke up early and continued the laundry. Wanted to have a Steve McQueen marathon, but Magnificent Seven didn’t work, so I could only watch Bullitt. It’s a good movie, but it’s no Getaway or Papillon. There was also some more Literati. I was very excited to get seventy-one points for “crankily,” it was my first bingo bonus in what seems like forever.

Got hungry and started making noodles and the kim chi dumplings that Sophia C gave me when Kitty K called me up and told me to come over for lunch, so I brought the noodles with me. She had made rice and a Chinese tomato soup, which we had first, then we split the noodles. Kitty K and Jane P tell me I made instant food look good. :)

Back home and chilled for a bit, and then James S called me up and told me he was swimming over at the freshmen’s, so I went over, too. But first I stopped at Safeway to get two Rock Stars (for the drive down to Santa Cruz and back) and two Gatorades (because it’s hot as hell in town.) James S and Mike T actually swam laps for days. I just sat in the water and enjoyed the coolness.

Soon enough, it was 6:30, and I went home to shower and get ready for Alice C’s dinner at Sudwerks. I was the first one there, and Will O spotted me and he was like, “It’s a thing? I thought it was just going to be me and her…” Soon enough, everyone got there. We got a table on the patio even though there were perfectly good empty tables inside. Those bastards.

Dinner was fun. aBB was dirty. Quote comes from when Will F showed up.

Did you get a haircut?”

- Mo W.

Nope.”

- Will F, taking off his hat.

But he did. Boy did he. Will F had a shaved head, and many comparisons were made. Personally, I think he resembles Hammerhead from Dick Tracy now. We chilled there until a little before 9:30, when most of them decided to go to Walmart. Thu H and I still had to go home and pack.

I had to drop off everyone who didn’t want to go to Walmart, so it was around 9:45 when I got home. Packed up by 10, then waited for Thu H and Haley to get ready. Then we filled up on gas, and finally left town around 10:30. The drive was uneventful for the most part. I did take 17 at higher speeds than I did last time I went down there. It was so fun! :) Oh, and we beat Peggy S to Aaron L’s house because she accidentally went the wrong way on the freeway.

When we got to Aaron L’s, played some games on the XBOX, then Peggy S got there and we played some more. Then Peggy S was hungry, so we went to Safeway, and she got some potato salad, and Thu H got croissants. Back to Aaron L’s, and we ate and talked, and then passed out. Oh, and Peggy S never listens to me. Thu H knows what I’m talking about; she laughed at my frustrations.

Of Up And Coming Monarchs

OK, back to a week of backlog to cover. I had hoped to get more done before I left for Santa Cruz, but that didn’t happen. Then I was going to update yesterday, when I got back, but it was so hot I couldn’t think. And Janice went to sleep early, so I didn’t want to use the computer at night.

But enough excuses… here’s last Monday. Woke up and tried to go online, but internet wasn’t working. Took Peggy to class so she could have a little extra time to study for her midterm and ran some errands on campus and downtown. They didn’t take as long as I expected, so went home and called up Comcast and bitched at them to fix my internet, which they did. Went online and almost immediately got sucked into Literati. The games have been getting harder and harder as people get better at word placement.

After a while, I got hungry and tired of using my brain during the hottest part of the day, so I chatted with Peggy for a bit. Guilted her into splitting her lunch with me. I felt really bad about it because I jokingly loaded a comment with max guilt, and she seemed to take it very seriously, and I tried to turn her down, but then she came up with billions of excuses, so I ended up going over there.

Lunch was very good… it was kim chi and SPAM fried rice that Sophia C had made for her. Then Peggy, Po, and I went around town for some of their errands. I got to play with brainy toys in the basement of the Life Science Addition. I didn’t know it was there, but they are fun. And air-conditioned. I would definitely spend all my time there between classes if I had summer school.

After that, Peggy and Sophia C were going to go to Walmart, but I was tired, so I went home for a nap. But as soon as I got home, Kitty called me up and asked me to come over and fix her computer. Her desktop kept restarting itself in the middle of loading up Windows, and I told her a system file probably got corrupted, and she would probably have to reformat. Quote comes from when Kitty was studying as I was checking out her box and we were discussing Poli Sci/IR stuff.

Want me to teach you about the democratic peace theory?”

- Kitty.

Sure.”

- Me.

Really?!”

- Kitty.

Yeah, it sounds like something I learned in Poli Sci 3.”

- Me.

OK, the democratic peace theory says that there will always be peace between two countries as long as they both practice a form of democracy.”

- Kitty.

Yeah, that sounds familiar. Tell me more.”

- Me.

… that’s it.”

- Kitty.

And then she moved on to her next flashcard. Jane P made dinner and they asked if I would eat with them, so I did. After that, Kitty went back to studying, so I went back to my place.

Peggy and Sophia C called me up, and they were going to have dinner and watch movies, so they asked me to come over. Oh, and to bring movies. And an onion. So I went to Safeway to get an onion (and some juice, because I was freaking thirsty), and got Drew from his place, since he wanted to watch movies, too. When we got there, I told the girls I had just eaten at Kitty’s, and didn’t want any, but they shoved a bowl of rice in my face anyways. :)

We watched 50 First Dates, because Sophia C hadn’t seen it yet. She also hasn’t seen The Sixth Sense, which 50 First Dates ruins. (But it had already been ruined for her.) Then we watched some Family Guy, and Sophia C got tired, so I took everyone home.

Wasn’t tired when I got home, so I watched The Twelve Tasks of Asterix. Great movie; those old-school Frenchies knew what they were doing. I haven’t seen it since I was a kid, and it made a lot more sense to me now that I have a better grasp of the English language. Passed out after that, because it was still so hot upstairs, I had to go downstairs.

Food, Sex, and Ewe

And then for yesterday. Or as I like to call it, “National Feed Dinh Day.”

Woke up from a weird dream I had. If you’ve read Gantz, I dreamed that some friends and I had those power suits, and were fighting monsters, but ended up confused and turning on each other.

Worked on the website for a bit. I couldn’t get it to do what I wanted it to do, though. I hate that feeling. I really need to look through all of Erik’s code and get a better feel for how everything fits together, instead of learning about things as I try to change them. Also inputting basically every pairing back to Toy term. I had pairing lists sent to me for Tran and West terms, but Toy term was all memory. And looking through various ImageStations at pictures from our BB Revealing.

Will N was cleaning up downstairs, which I thought was a little odd. But I really should have been suspicious when he moved the furniture outside. Last time we did that was for his birthday. But then he took me out to lunch and I thought nothing more of it. I guess I’m a sucker that way. Distracting me with food works every time… keep that in mind if you ever want to pull a fast one on me. :)

Took Will N to class after lunch, and went online some more. Then it was time to head over to Will Oh’s for his Aggie Auction after-BBQ. It was really good… thanks Will! You are the best chair ever. :) Had some awesome Korean BBQ and kim chi, then swam for a bit in the Avalon pool with Roger, Michelle, and Ben.

Then it was time for the Toyfest BBQ at Arroyo Park. Headed over there with Peggy, and we were among the first there, of course. Thanks mommies! You guys are the best mommies ever! They fed us burgers, hot dogs, and “xa xiu” chicken. The turn-out was good, too. I think we had more people at the BBQ than we did for the Toy Class Reunion around Christmas time. Quote coems from when we were all standing around the grill waiting for Mommy Van to feed us -

What happened, Trung?!”

- Joe L, pointing at the trail of wet spots going from Trung’s crotch down to his toes.

Oh, it was the water fountain.”

- Trung.

What kinda water fountain does that? Where is the fountain, anyway?”

- Joe L.

It’s over there behind those bushes.”

- Trung.

And then he realized that didn’t really help his case.

Then I headed over to Kitty’s place because Kitty and Will N had been telling me to go to Terren’s birthday BBQ all week. Will N was pretty insistent on it, too… especially today. Chilled there for a while… it was weird, because it was the first party I’ve been to in a while where I didn’t know everyone… it was mostly Terren’s ChemEng friends. Shizzle was there, though! I haven’t seen that fool in ages. :) Bao, James S, and I sat in the corner, mostly. I had hella Coronas and took a birthday shot of Henny with Terren.

Then Eddie came over and said some funny stuff. James S and I decided to go back to the apartment to see what was up. And it was a surprise party for us! And Alison, although… James S was told it was for me, and Alison was told it was for James S and me. So again, we had a joint surprise party. :) Thanks to Eddie and Will N for putting that that together! And yeah, I’m slow. And I was surprised. Again.

And thanks to everyone who came by to chill with me! Sorry I was a bit of a downer last night at my own party. I get weird around this time of year. Damn introspection! So yeah, I chilled on outside more than anything, and avoided the dance floor whenever possible. Thanks to Peggy for pushing me just a little past my limits. ;)

People started migrating to and from the like four other parties in town, and mine fizzled out after a while. That’s cool, though… I just passed out.
