My Addictions

So after my posts last night, went to brush my teeth, and got pulled into a two-hour discussion with Jimmy about my posts. Specifically, about APhiO. Good stuff. He makes me see things in a new way all the time, and I love bouncing ideas off him.

Went to service this morning with Albert and Melanie. I love service in the morning. Even though this one involved me having a pretty bad allergic reaction… My skin and eyes were all itchy, my nose was just constantly dripping, and my lips even swelled up a little.

Today’s quote comes from the project:

Oh my God, the Fed just dropped interest rates by half a point. Of all days, why did I have to have service today?”

- Albert.

Poor guy… a stocks buddy of his was text messaging him every five minutes, taunting him with more information he couldn’t act on.

Got back home and took a shower and slept off the rest of the attack. Had a quick bite for dinner, and then it was movie time! Double-feature tonight… first, Eddie and I met up with Vince and Lesley for Superbad. Then we went to the other theater for Balls of Fury, and ran into hella folks, including Aaron L, Minh T, Michow, Chris H, Isaac, Joe, Drew, DK, Kevin P, and Donna. Superbad was awesome. Mostly because I saw so much of myself in the unbelievably awkward main characters. Balls of Fury, eh… not so much. I laughed at stuff, but overall… not as impressive to me. Plus there was random ASA complaints in the back of my mind the whole time.

Oh, and why is Maggie Q now THE Asian chick in Hollywood? She was pretty hot in Balls, but goddamn, in later scenes, she straight looked concave!

My Hate Of MySpace Continues

And it’s because of shit like this!

For those of you who don’t want to read the article, here’s the Cliff Notes:

Wired News editor and former hacker Kevin Poulsen wrote a 1,000-line Perl script that checked MySpace for registered sex offenders. Sifting through the results, he manually confirmed over 700 offenders, including a serial child molester in New York actively trying to hook up with underage boys on the site, and who has now been arrested as a result. MySpace told Congress last June that it didn’t have this capability.

MySpace don’t give a shit about the safety of their users!

Could You Be The One?

Gotta keep up!

Woke up and went online. Talked to Kitty for a while. I miss her. If you’re reading this, Kitty, I’m making you quote!

I just got back from my favorite concert and I’m in love! AGAIN.”

- Kitty.

Cool; how was Leon?”

- Me.

Hot!”

- Kitty.

Hahaha. So… Leon > Jay?”

- Me.

Almost. =”

- Kitty.

Equal? Then who are you going to marry? Unless the three of you move to Utah…”

- Me.

Neither. Argh! I’ll marry Eric from The Little Mermaid.”

- Kitty.

More stuff online, including writing up a post, checking e-mail and Xangas. Just bummed around the house for a while after that. Watched some Ronin Warriors with Vince, had lunch with Peggy, and then it was time for the Crocker Art Museum project.

It was the first time we’ve done this project, so I didn’t really know what to expect. There was no dress code, which was a little odd, because it’s a Tea and Tour event. Well, when we got there, it looked like the event was wrapping up… even more odd. Turns out, they just wanted us to do dishes. I don’t mind doing dishes, but it seems kinda wrong of them to spring that on us, since not everyone would have taken it as gracefully as we did. The lady in charge told me it was great having us because the docents tend to skip out at clean-up time. The docent who showed me around told me that she got a degree at Stanford to do this. Anyway, they loved how well we worked, and asked us to come back every first Thursday of the month to do it again. I told them I’d talk to Will about it. Oh, one plus we got out of the project was that they gave us the leftover goodies that were served with the tea.

On the way home, Peggy told me 49er Video was hiring, so we swung by there to get a movie (I had a free New Release coupon from Chamber Day) and fill out some apps. Didn’t remember all my references/previous employer’s info, so I took the form home. Oh, we passed by Panda Express’s Hibachi Grill or whatever it’s called. There was a huge line that wrapped around the building because they were giving free meals to the first hundred customers when they opened for the first time at 5 PM. Thought about waiting in line for some food, but Peggy probably would have been late to her FellowComm meeting.

Went home and Peggy took off. Played Halo with Vince and Sara for a while. Vince is still a league above us, but I think I’m slowly getting better. I switched from Default button layout to Boxer layout, and things went a bit better for me, but I have a tendency of accidentally mashing X (Grenade) when I mean to hit A (Jump). That’s trouble. A lot more so than accidentally hitting Mêlée. But I’ll get the hang of it. I think the thing that will make me a lot better is learning the maps. I just got to keep playing them until I acclimate myself to them all, with all the hiding places and the special power-ups.

Had dinner with Peggy after that. We caught the second half of Mean Girls with Vince and Lesley, then watched Premonition, the movie we had gotten from 49er. It’s a Japanese horror about a “Newspaper of Terror” that tells you ahead of time about how you’ll die. I passed out about halfway through the movie, but woke up in time for the ending. Was surprisingly awake as I brushed my teeth, so stayed up some more to work on old posts on the website. Watched some Adult Swim with Drew, Kevin P, and Thu H, then back to the website when they left. Eventually my eyes hurt from looking at the screen, and I called it a night.
