I Feel Just Like A Child

Yesterday…

Man, my mind can’t take it anymore. Woke up at 5:30 because Peggy S was sick, so I covered her chalking shift. Alice C picked Drew M and me up at 5:45 and we were off. First, dropped Drew M off at Kinko’s. He had to print out flyers for Service Fair. Then we went on campus and met up with Bethany W, Jimmy P, Jane L, Liz S, and Sang D for the project. We split up, and Alice C and I took Liz S and hit up Soc Sci, Young, and Olson. Got caught up there, and Bethany W met up again with us there after her crew finished up their side of campus and she sent them home. After the project, Bethany W and Alice C went to Baker’s Square for breakfast, but I went home to pass out.

Woke up again at 10, which is when my first class started. I thought I could sleep for a bit and get ready for my second class, since the first class’ lectures are recorded and put online anyway, so I could just download it later. Then I got caught up online with service and some other stuff like writing a post for my awesome readers, so I missed the bus that would get to school by 12, too. More online stuff, and Peggy S made dumplings for lunch, which I mooched. :)

Eventually, I did catch the bus, and went to campus for ServiceComm. Too bad no one showed up for it. I talked to a couple folks informally about what we wanted to do, and asked people what they wanted out of service, but not much came out of it. Sat around for a while eating fun-size Laffy Taffies and reading the lame jokes to each other off the wrappers. Quote comes from one of them.

What do you call Robin Hood’s mom?”- Drew M.

What?”

- Everyone.

Mother Hood.”

- Drew M.

Hahaha!”

- Peggy S, who couldn’t stop laughing for five minutes.

Ugh…”

- Everyone else.

Yeah, here’s the two jokes on my wrapper: “What do pigs put on their cuts?” “Oinkment.” “Why did the ghost sing off-key?” “Because he left his sheet music at home.” Har-dee-har-har.

Went to Peggy S’s Non-Verbal Communication class after her with that. It’s really interesting stuff. Sandy L’s in that class, too, and the professor always makes Korean references — we think his wife must be Korean — which we check with her for accuracy. I left at the break, though, to go to ExComm, which was just outside, because Peggy S’s class is in the same room as the general meeting. ExComm was pretty smooth, and after that was class time again.

Lecture was pretty cool, we saw some videos today illustrating the different approaches to the treatment of mental illness featuring Carl Rogers and Albert Ellis.

After class, caught the bus home with Peggy S, and ran into Andrew M, Emily T, and Mabel H on it. We all sat in the very back like cool kids. When we got home, drove to Murder Burger for dinner. Two Aggie Annihilators for $10.71 is a great deal, but the food in general is going downhill. The burgers aren’t as tasty, the fries are soggier, and they don’t have that great BBQ sauce they had before. Food coma after that.

Wait For The Wheels

Dammit, I missed yesterday’s update. I find it harder to update at my new apartment, since I’m right next to the living room and therefore more easily distracted.

OK, so Saturday… woke up and went to a service project I hadn’t even signed up for. It was because Peggy remembered signing up for it, but hadn’t been contacted by the chair. There wasn’t much I could do about it, though, since the website was down, so I had no idea who the chair was, and couldn’t give them the sign-up list even if I did know. So I just assumed no one but Peggy was going, and went with her to replace someone. I swear, the down website will be the death of me.

Anyways, the project was slow and easy. We were showing a designer showcase model home at $20 a person, and all benefits go to the Sacramento Children’s Home — specifically their Sacramento Crisis Nurseries, which are for babies who need to be taken out of troubled homes. Peggy got the game room and I got the garage. We just kinda stood around and told the visitors a bit about the room and where they are supposed to go next. Frank Fats’ family went through while we were there.

After that, we went home, and I played Utopia for a while. It’s an interesting concept for a web-based game, but so freaking slow-paced. From the time you sign up, you have to wait three days before you can interact with other players. It’s definitely not like that old game I used to play freshman year… I think it was called “Kingdoms” or something like that. That one was a combination of real-time and turn-based, similar to Fallout Tactics, and the game-play was a lot simplier and faster. Still, Utopia looks to be pretty fun once I really get rolling. Damn you, Thu H and Jimmy P for giving me yet another online addiction!

Got caught up on my webcomics, and then it was time for Joe M’s birthday barbeque. Except no one was here yet. Not even Joe M. Julie C and Eddie L came over with most of the supplies, followed by BB and Brandon with a few remaining items. Sat around a waited for a bit. Then Joe M came home.

Hey, I hear Joe M coming…”

- Me.

Hey, Fatty!”

- Vince, as Joe M came into view.

Except it wasn’t Joe M. :o ops: It was just someone who had a similar voice and posture. He looked us funny, and we all struggled not to look even crazier by laughing our heads off.

Then Joe M really came home. We could tell by the revving as he came through the Avalon entrance. People showed up, and the party began. I grilled, and therefore was well-fed once again. :) The cake was good. The drinks were good. Brandon brought a propane torch, and we had a lot of fun with it. Then inside for a little bit of Smash Bros, and Brandon busted out the projector and we watched Final Fantasy — Advent Children on the wall of the lounge. It was amazing.

Then there was a bit more chilling at our place, but I was getting tired, so I passed out pretty early.

Smile Around The Face

Today started slow, but finished awesome. I can’t wipe the grin off my face right now as I look back.

Woke up a bit… frazzled. Gave Peggy S her wake-up call, then alternated between being online, watching TV, and laying in bed. Sound familiar? Yeah, I’ve been doing this for days.

Around lunch, got a call from Alice C that Habitat for Humanity of Yolo County has a project for us. Score! Then I got an even better call. UCD called and a lady told me that I would be getting something in the mail in the next couple of days that includes information on how to register for Fall 2005 classes! SCORE!

Watched some GTO with Will N for a while. After that, online job hunted really quickly basically until it was time for the project. Took a shower and heated up a burrito, then I made my rounds and picked up Thu H, Jimmy P, Izzy P, and Peggy S. KVIE was fun, as usual. Except Peggy S was picking on me all night. Like she broke my terminal. :( And then she got Izzy P, who was sitting on my other side, to help pick on me, too. Good thing Russ, the studio captain, took my side.

Stop it!”

- Peggy S, when I tickled her back.

Do I have to separate you two?”

- Russ.

He started it!”

- Peggy S.

But look at what it says on your shirt!”

- Russ.

It was her Elmo “Tickles wanted,” shirt.

After the project, dropped everyone off and went to Joe M’s to fix his computer. He wasn’t home, though, so I left him a message and went over to Peggy S’s for a bit in case he was going to come home soon. She made some great noodles for me, and we watched TV for a bit. Then she looked like she was about to pass out on the couch, so I told her to go to sleep, and went home. Sorry Joe M… I guess I’ll fix your computer some other day.

Now I’m sitting here reading some more Xangas and considering going to bed. Oh, and to Alison W… you have no one to blame but yourself for reading this when you should be hard at work. :)
