Speak Easy

Man, Peggy S’s such a slave-driver. She threatened to never talk to me until I update. So now I guess I have to. But what to write about? I guess I’ll cover Sunday…

Hmm… woke up at 7. Hopped online to find that Peggy S was still up. She had pulled another all-nighter and had just finished her project. I told her to take a nap before Amber W’s graduation, but she insisted on staying up to make a poster for her, too. Got ready for my long day and bummed around online, because my mom was going to stop by on the way to taking my sister to the airport to give me my ticket and talk to me about some family stuff.

Finished up the family business at 10:30, and hurried to Kinko’s to print out my project. I noticed that the printer they have there is the same exact one my dad has at home home. Too bad I didn’t have time to go home and print it myself. Anyways, he told me the pictures were a bit pixelated, so I ran home and tried to touch it up as best I could. Got back there and gave him a higher resolution form of the project, and he told me it would be done by 1:30. It was 11:45.

I hurried over to campus, hoping I could still make it to get a picture with Amber W out on the lawn after she walked. Got a great parking spot and ran around the Pavilion a couple of times, but didn’t see anyone I knew, so went to Hunan’s. Saw Peggy S and Jackie H drive off as I made the turn out of the parking lot, so I knew I made the right call. Stalked them all the way downtown. Lunch was cool, except I don’t think Amber W’s mom is particularly into Chinese food. And possibly was overwhelmed by the Asian in her life.

After lunch, went back to Kinko’s and added my project to Peggy S’s. Then we went to Jackie H’s to pass out for a bit, since we couldn’t get into the actually 2 PM graduation ceremony. Went after, though to take pictures outside again. Met Kitty K’s family. The genes are strong. Just like Jenny L’s family. Peggy S gave her project to Thuong T and went home.

A bunch of us went to Dos Coyotes and Coldstone’s after. Alice C, Drew M, Jackie H, Jen L, and I split an Ultimate Bucket. aBB managed to disturb small children the vicinity with her dirtiness.

Oh no, I got creamy white stuff on myself!”

- Alice C.

Uh… do you realize what you said?”

- Us.

No, not at all. Now I’m putting these yummy nuts in my mouth!”

- Alice C.

Good lord!”

- Us.

Mothers were quickly dragging their infants away from earshot. We went our separate ways after we killed the bucket… I went with Alice C to 49er video so she could use my account to rent some movies, and then I went home. Tried to cheer up Peggy S for a bit, but it didn’t seem to work. Random stuff online.

Some people went to see Batman, but I was too tired, and didn’t feel like paying full price again. Ended up taking a nap that lasted until 1:45 in the morning. Talked online some more. Finally passed out for good around 4:30.

Tell Me I'm Wrong

I’m bored and broke. What to do? Hmm… sounds like posting time! :)

Woke up at 5:30 on Saturday because Kinko’s opens at 6, and I was going to get ready for my day and then go over there to print out my project. Peggy S wasn’t done with hers, though, despite the fact that she had stayed up until 5 AM working on it and passed out unwillingly. She was supposed to take Ian R to the airport, too, but I made her take a nap before Thuong T’s graduation, and took him myself, instead.

Got back and made sure everyone in my car was going to be ready, then Diana Pai came over, and we picked up Amber W and Peggy S and headed to campus. The ceremony was… eh. Speakers could have been better. But we can’t all get Wear Sunscreen. Thanks again to Kitty K for the ticket! Congrats to Jeremy J, Linh N, Keegan K, Thuong T, Jenny L, Bao N, Alice W… I’m sure I’m forgetting a bunch of folks. It was the first graduation I had actually gone to this year, and it made me sad to see so many friends leaving. Especially folks I knew from high school and the dorms. Oh well. Next year. Or maybe the year after…

After the obligatory picture taking for days outside, went to Thuong T’s graduation lunch at Davis Noodle City. We seriously took over the place… I think APhiO had every seat in the house. The food, though… I think I could have made it better myself. And that’s saying a lot. But hey, I tried a new place in town, and now I know. After that, headed over to Chaparral for Alice W’s BBQ. I was pretty full, so only had a slice of cheesecake. And then a slice of the raspberry chocolate mousse cake that Jen L, TJ Y, and Aywon N got for Thuong T. Played ball in the street with Mike O for a bit, but it was windy. And I hit a car. (The balls are foam, so nothing happened, though.)

Was kinda sleepy, so I went home and took a nap. Talked online for days after that. Wrote a couple of posts in between distracting Peggy S from finishing her project. She mocked my non-existant love life that I mentioned in my bitter post. And made random racist comments -

My back hurts. I wasn’t sitting right, I guess. :(

- Peggy S.

Aw… you need a back brace or something.”

- Me.

Ew, no! That’s what my dad uses. And the Mexicans that work at Home Depot.”

- Peggy S.

Why you gotta be racist? Everyone who works at Home Depot has a weight belt.”

- Me.

And the Mexicans have it more!”

- Peggy S.

I still don’t get what she means by that. That girl… :shakes head:

Anyways, passed out around 3:30.

Early Morning Rain

Dammit, so lazy to post. I just want to sleep. Stupid sickness. But I got to, before my memory fades…

So yeah… Sunday… woke up at 3 in the morning. Got ready. Called up the people in my car. Genie was going to meet me at TOPS because she wanted to finish up the movie she was watching, so I went to get some gas, since I had been riding the empty and wasn’t sure I had enough gas to even pick up people in town. Unfortunately, all the gas stations in North Davis are closed at 3 AM. Well, at least to cash customers. Went to pick up Debbie, and then stopped at the ARCO by campus and got a little bit of gas to get me by. Picked up Everett from his place. Showed up at TOPS at exactly 4, the time we were supposed to be leaving. I was the the fourth car there. And yes, we were taking more than four cars. Talked to Michelle and asked her to clear out my car if possible, since I didn’t want to drive the gas guzzler all the way to Frisco and deal with traffic and parking. She was nice, and let us split. The other cars came. We left TOPS around 4:30.

The ride there was uneventful. Mostly because as hard as I tried to stay up, I knocked out for most of it. Sorry, Donald! But at least Jenny L was there to keep you company.

The project itself wasn’t what I expected. I thought at first that we would have have cameras and kinda take action shots as people crossed the finish line. Actually, when we got there, we helped set up backdrops, and then some of us got paired up with photographers, and we were basically supposed to grab runners and get them to take their pictures and manage the line, so all the photographer would have to do is stand and click. It wasn’t bad, except for the fact that I was standing on my feet for about seven hours. We were all comparing sorrows at the project -

I’m hella tired. I woke up at 3.”

- Me.

We went to sleep at 4 and woke up at 4:30 to come here.”

- Brandon.

I guess that defeats the purpose of coming to the Bay early. Or does it? ;)

Oh yeah, originally I was paired up with this cool old guy named Sal, and I found out he was actually an IPhi alumnus! Actualy, Miyama and I were both paired with him for some reason, so later they asked for someone to go work with another photographer who didn’t have a partner, and I had to switch.

After that, we went to eat at Phở Hoa Hiep, or Kevin’s Noodle House. I love how that’s the English translation. :) Got a phở dac biet bo vien. It was surprisingly good. The broth was much better than the Hoa Viet crap I’m used to now. It was actually clear, for one thing. After lunch, went with Alice C to get dim sum to go down the street, got food from Becca’s, dropped off Tina, and then back to Davis we went. Alice C was really tired, so I drove her car back.

Got back basically just in time for the pledge meeting. It was pretty short. Mostly, “finish your reqs by Tuesday, bitches!” SNR was at IHOP, but I was so tired, I just went home and passed out.

Oh yeah… it drizzled early in the morning at the project. I think that’s why I’m sick now. Anyways, I’ll catch up in posting tomorrow. It’ll be a long day of getting chores done for me.
