Peanut Butter Dragon Time

George RR Martin just announced today that he’s close. Close enough that his publisher is giving another release date:

TUESDAY, JULY 122011

And yes, he acknowledged all the slipped deadlines of the past, but promised it’s different this time. I, for one, am ready to take this abusive husband back into my house. And I’ll start by re-reading A Game of Thrones. I was planning on waiting until the beginning of April to re-read it so everything would be as fresh as possible for the HBO series, but I figure in a month, I could probably run through the whole series and back again.

Anyway, time to head down to the basement and dig up that book.

Late Again

I’m starting to sound like a certain white rabbit. This will be to make up for yesterday, and I’ll post something else tonight. Need to set an alarm for myself or something so I can make sure I incorporate posting into my daily routine.

When I moved out to SF, I told myself that I would do some freelance web work to supplement my savings while I looked for job. That never really happened. Most of the jobs I saw were either low-paying and spammy or just a bit beyond my technical prowess. I really need to take some classes or just settle down with some books and refresh myself. I want to get a browser-based game going by the end of this year. Doesn’t have to be a huge hit, but just running smoothly.

Anyway, I just started working on a website for Judy T yesterday. It seemed simple enough on paper, she wanted me to customize a WordPress install for her. Then I got started and realized that her hosting plan was terrible and doesn’t even allow FTP access. Luckily, there’s a file manager plug-in I can use from within WordPress, but i’s way too cumbersome to keep using it for minor tweaks. This will be interesting.

Anyone else interested in WordPress help? I do .org and .com now. :)
