In Darkest Night
So for the last two or three Black Fridays, I haven’t bought anything. The deals have been getting worse and worse, and the lines have been getting crazier and crazier.
This year, I wasn’t planning on getting anything, either… just wanted to go chill for tradition’s sake. However, turns out no one wanted to get anything this year… only Eddie C and Andrew P even wanted to go out. I was still kinda down to go with them. Fry’s supposedly had a lot of stuff that was free after rebate, and Tommy L said that he could try to hook us up. Called around after I finished dinner with family, and the guys came over around 10. Eddie C mentioned that it was below freezing last night in Sacramento, and it would be again this night. I said no, thanks. They tried to talk me into it for a bit, but I stood firm, and they took off.
… and then they came back about half an hour later, just to tell me that the line for Fry’s was already too long for them to realistically get a good amount of stuff in there. They did some more research, and decided to head to Vacaville Outlets. There were some decent deals there, and a lot of the stores there opened at midnight. I still opted out.
I don’t know how people do it… I heard that Cindy M wanted to line up at the Best Buy by my house at 11 am on Thanksgiving and wait almost twenty-four hours for the deals. Eddie C was adamant on buying something, even though he had work at 9 am. But then I shouldn’t talk… I ended up splurging some of my winnings on a new digital camera. I haven’t had one since The VSA snow trip in early 2004. Ironically, I didn’t even have a camera while I was pledge historian… I had to always borrow other people’s. But yeah… It’s been a long time since the days when I carried my Canon S40 around in my cargo pockets everywhere I went. But in a couple of days, I’ll have my Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3 to play with!
