You Don't Know Forbidden Castle Pucks

After we wrapped up Act 1 of the Games of Nonchalance, Thu H and I caught a bus back to my place, and I drove us to meet up with Aaron L and Sue L for some board game action and to watch the Sharks game. Originally, Sue L was going to host, but Chris T and Tina K offered up their place, so we headed to Hayward.

Got there in the middle of a game of Carcassonne. Got to try Kona Brewing Co.‘s Koko Brown, a coconut beer.

Pretty damn tasty!

Also had some Asahi Black while we watched the Sharks game. Chris T and Tina K also put out a cheese and dried fruit platter and we classed it up with multiple wines, including a Passover kosher one. Aaron L explained that to make wine good for Passover (“the breadless holiday”), they remove the yeast early before it raises. Not sure where that point is in the wine fermentation process, but it definitely tasted like it was stopped and then fortified.

Jason G also stopped by, and we played a couple of games of You Don’t Know Jack, which Chris T had for his XBOX. Turns out, he used to play the original on PC back in the day, too! Playing with four players at once was really fun. I really wish we could do it with the Steam version. Or better yet, network play!

After that, we taught everyone Forbidden Island. Started on Normal on a relatively easy board (all the important spots near the center), but still lost due to the water level reaching instant death levels.

After that, headed home. All in all, a fantastic way to spend a Saturday!

Hell On High Heels

It was great last night to go out for Lillian L’s birthday and to see her, Stacey F, Becca Y, Miyama I, Chris T, Tina K, Michael B, Linda C, Andrew M, and Thu H. Plus their friends. Peggy S, I’m sorry you couldn’t make it and hope that you and your car are OK.

During the bar golf game, the chit-chat somehow hit the topic of Miss APhiO, and the fact that Chris T was a contestant. Apparently Tina K did not know this about him. We somehow got into desribing his wardrobe, and someone asked him, “So how did you like the heels?”

They were great. They made my thighs…“
 – Chris T, making some up-and-down hand gestures.
“Elongated?“
 – Someone, trying to be helpful.
“Yeah, they made my thighs elongated, like celery.“
 – Chris T.

I’m pretty sure I did not mishear that, because I turned to Becca Y, the other sober person, to confirm. Can any girls, or other Miss APhiO contestants, or people who know Chris T explain that comparison to me, please?

Our Silence

Man, another restless night. I think since today is everyone’s “study day,” it’s going to be my “nap day.” I need to catch up on all the good sleep I’ve been missing out on. Listening to some music at the moment, and I realized… my tastes aren’t as eclectic as I thought. The first bar of this Interpol song reminds me of Red Hot Chili Peppers.

So yesterday… woke up around 8 after going to sleep around 3 or 4. Laid in bed for a while, trying to sleep more. Finally got sick of rolling around at 10:30. Went online and got sucked into Literati again. Wrote up a post and read some Xangas at the same time. During the in-game chat, Drew M and I remembered we didn’t have any food for the CPPC potluck, so we decided to combine our leftovers in a pot and see what comes out pool our culinary skills and invent a new fabulous dish for ExComm.

Took a shower after our last game of Literati and headed over to Drew M’s. We prepared our mystery casserole and watched Whose Wedding Is It Anyway?. Peggy S came over and made her magic tuna pasta. Which was great, but can’t compare to mystery casserole with liquid delicious. :) Watched Drawn Together as the casserole baked, and then it was time to go.

CPPC went pretty well. It was really smooth, especially over stuff like hours. I didn’t speak much, which lead to yesterday’s quote(s) -

I think if you give Dinh and me a chance, we will show everyone that you don’t need service shoved down your throat, and people will naturally want to do it again.”

- Will F.

Being mean works, though. Chris T and Michelle J tried being nice, and then someone lied and Chris T flipped out.”

- Clayton L.

Well, I don’t think Dinh or I are very prone to being hard-asses or flipping out.”

- Will F.

Yeah, he is, look at Dinh’s face!”

- Joe M.

Did you have anything to add?”

- Alice C to me.

No.”

- Me.

Speak, Silent Service!”

- Steph L.

He’s Jay and he’s Silent Bob.”

- Alice C, pointing at Will F and me, respectively.

I guess I have a rep to uphold now. Will F and I will go to Info Night and he’ll do all the talking, and I’ll stand slightly back and to the side waving a two-by-four with a nail in it threateningly.

Anyways, went home after that and chatted online for a while. Peggy S came over and we watched It. Then she went home and I passed out.
