CodeYear Week 3

I got the email for CodeYear Week 3 on Monday, but didn’t get to it until Thursday between classes. It took me about 45 minutes to finish, and was basically a big review of all the material previously covered.

We did have to put the concepts together into a very basic dice game, but I hope that’s not what they meant when they said I would be working on a game by the end of the first month. It was a just a random number generator with weighted results — 1s get you 0 “points” while doubles get you bonus “points.” There was no user input to speak of.

CodeYear Week 2

I got the e-mail for the CodeYear Week 2 lesson this morning and dived right into it. There were two new lessons and one that was already available on the Codecademy website.

This week’s focus was on functions, so it was still pretty simple for me. Looking forward to putting these basics together into a complete project.

CodeYear Week 1

Got the first lesson from CodeYear today.

I haven’t worked entirely in JavaScript before. When I did use JavaScript in the past, it was only snippets within another language. Nothing too bad, though. The principles are the same, just had to learn the proper syntax.

Supposedly, the lessons get advanced enough that I will be working on a game by the end of the first month. Looking forward to that.
