One of the reasons I have been inconsistent with blogging in the past was that I would just run out of things to talk about. In hopes that you will not let me run out of material, I’ve started a FormSpring account. Feel free to ask me anything! The goal is to write a post at least once every other day, and I’ll answer questions on days I don’t have a post already in mind.
The first question comes from FormSpring itself:
“If you could ask God one question what would it be?”
I’m definitely not a monotheist (from Penny Arcade), so if I were to discover that there was a sentient and omnipotent creator being, I would probably be a smart-ass like T-Rex (from Dinosaur Comics). But supposing that I did meet this creator and keep the presence of mind to ask a serious question…
The first question that comes to mind is, “Why do bad things happen to us?” But I’m reminded of the butterfly parable, and it makes sense. We must be challenged to grow great. So next, I would think to ask, “Why allow evil when nature already challenges us?” But then I think of the question of free choice and predestiny. If we can no nothing but good, then we have no free choice and without free choice, is “good” actually “good” ? If you value growth and free choice, I guess I answered my own question. Hmm… does that make me God?
Just kidding! But really, I have no idea what I would ask. Most likely, “Why?” They never said I could only ask once, right?
“Because.”
Why?
Where do babies come from? What is your favorite color? What is the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything? Who is the mom from HIMYM? Do you still have GIR and where is it now?
Thanks for the questions, I’ve queued them all up.
