Looks like a neighbor just put up an unsecured wireless network. It’s as slow as dial-up, but good enough to post this update on the diet.
Keep going! 39.2 lbs to go!
Weekly loss: 0.8 lbs. — Daily deficit: 408 calories.
You will reach your goal of 155 lbs on 2009-12-11. (21 days early!)
The trend line isn’t completely accurate; it’s just a moving average of my weight rather than an actual measure of my fat. (It’s hard to tell, but my most recent weigh-in was at 192.7, but the trend line thinks that I’m still at 194.2.) However, I know that it will help in the long run since it will smooth out the daily ups and downs. Also, I missed a weigh-in on the 4th, and the chart doesn’t show the gap. Supposedly the trend line does account for it, though, and I suppose one day with a .3 lb difference won’t make much difference in the long run.
Despite the downsides, though, the diet plan does seem to be working. The book makes sense, and it’s interesting to see dieting from an engineering perspective. The daily weigh-ins are keeping me focused on my calorie counting, which is where I usually slipped up in the past. The fitness ladder is OK, and I like the gradual increase, but the lower levels are perhaps a little too easy? I just need to skip ahead a few levels.
