Secret Santa 2008

Since I’m very proud of what I did, I’m re-​posting from my family’s Secret Santa blog -

Chi Be is busy and away from key­board, so she asked me to make this post for her. Please keep in mind, I was her Secret Santa, so I’m biased towards its awesomeness.

She asked for:

1. flight ticket to go to the Phillip­ines
2. Brand new Honda Accord 2000 and over
3. a real Gucci bag
4. a real Chanel purse
5. a baby husky

I sent the pack­age to her on Decem­ber 15^th, but stu­pid USPS (and the Cana­dian equiv­a­lent it handed off to?) didn’t deliver until the 30^th. Grr! Any­way, inside were some gifts, and a note that went some­thing like this -

“Dear Secret Santee,

I’m sorry, but with the econ­omy the way it is and the fact that I’m unem­ployed at the moment, I’m afraid I couldn’t get every­thing you wanted this Christ­mas. Sorry, no plane ticket to Manila.

Your sec­ond wish was for a 2000 or newer Honda Accord, and unfor­tu­nately, I couldn’t find one that fit my bud­get. How­ever, I did find a Honda S2000 that my friend was able to get me for very cheap. I think the S2000 fits your per­son­al­ity bet­ter any­way. The only catch is that there is some assem­bly required. I didn’t know what color you wanted the car in, so I left it with just primer, and you can paint it your­self, too. [I printed with a laser printer, so it turned light gray instead of yellow.]

Since I’m a guy, I didn’t know what the dif­fer­ence was between your third and fourth wishes. A female friend of mine helped me out, though, and I got this purse on the cheap from a Viet­namese sweat­shop.

For your fifth wish, I’m afraid I couldn’t find a pure husky puppy for you. But one day when I was out with my friends, I came across this mutt. He looks like he’s part husky. [I added a stuffed ani­mal dog my friends and I won play­ing ticket games at Dave and Busters. Sorry, no pic­ture available.]

Thanks, Santa! Unfor­tu­nately, there was no note with the present, but I did find one on the web­site this morning:

“Your Secret Santa gift should be on its way (from who­ever your Secret Santa is). The gift is a com­bi­na­tion of your first and sec­ond items on your wish list — a two-​for-​one. Happy Reading!”

I haven’t read this book before, but there is the pos­si­bil­ity that front teeth, peace, and good will are men­tioned or sym­bol­ized in it, so up to all five could be met! It’s a pretty thin read so I look for­ward to being able to tell you more in the next day or so.
