A Strength Most Don’t Possess
I tend to give people a hard time about brand-whoring. I mean, I can appreciate that a certain company has a higher quality of product, but I don’t believe in buying anything solely because of the label that’s on it. That’s part of why I hate a lot of product placement and brands that squeeze their logo onto every visible square inch of their own products. When I’m about to make a purchase, I try to do as much research as possible first.
But I have to admit, even I am fallible. Whenever Google rolls out a new project, I give it a whirl. Most of the time, this isn’t a big commitment, since they are mostly free web apps. But anyway, when Google and T-Mobile announced the G1, I was pretty excited. I mean, I needed a phone anyway, but it goes against my usual policies of brand-whoring, not buying a first-gen product, and paying for a phone. I did some research, and the general consensus was that Android rocks, but the HTC Dream is so-so.
Despite that neutral-ish tones, though, I bit the bullet. Ordered online, and it should be arriving any day now. I’ve already downloaded the Android SDK, too. Any ideas on an app for me to try to program?

Cool! My only grip about the G1 is that it’s not that pretty.. Hahaha, I guess that shouldn’t matter, but it does and I like pretty things. But otherwise I’ve heard good things. Too bad I’m on the AT&T network…
