A Freak Like Me

Saw this unreleased Toy Story trailer and thought it was pretty awesome -

It’s cool how they even got the lips to sync up, like in the GI Joe Parody PSAs -

But in all seriousness, I really wish Pixar could make movies for more mature audiences. No, I’m not asking for CG porn. I mean, it’s been done before… Final Fantasy: Spirits Within and Final Fantasy: Advent Children weren’t kids movies. And there’s been a lot of good CG shorts out there, both big commercial ones like Final Flight Of the Osiris from the Animatrix -

and artsy indie ones like 50% Grey -

Square has shown that they are able to make feature length movies, but I doubt they will step outside their comfort zone of Final Fantasy IP to make a general release movie instead of a straight-to-DVD ones aimed at the gamer niche market. Lots of other people seem to have the potential to make great CG movies, but I doubt they have the resources to release a feature film.

Pixar is in a unique position. I wish Disney wouldn’t keep them locked up away from the world and slaving away for them like Cinderella. Disney has released more mature films in the past, and they also own labels such as Touchstone that they could release mature Pixar films under.
