Kick Ass

My days have been filled with reading and watching TV lately. Première season is starting on TV… some interesting new shows I’m checking out as well as good shows returning.

On the reading front, I’ve been alternating between finishing the non-fiction assigned reading I had for POL 107 and my shipments of comics. As interesting as the class readings were, I can’t power through non-fiction like I can through fiction. And between my regular comic series and the ones I’ve been hearing about through Vince and HeavyInk, I’d had plenty of material to distract myself with.

Perhaps most interesting is Kick Ass. Actually, it’s “KICK-ASS.” The book is by Mark Millar, who has done a lot of other work I like, including Wanted. It’s about a regular high school kid who decides to become a real-life superhero after reading too many comics. No radioactive spider bite, no gamma rays, no toxic waste accident on the docks, no murdered parents. Just a kid with a mask.

It definitely answers the question of why no one really tries to do anything like this. Oh, and it’s being made into a movie right now! Be elitist cool and read it before the movie comes out.

One comment.

  1. Is Kick Ass why Vince’s Facebook status talks about Mark Millar? Cool, I wanna check it out.

Would you consider being a superhero?
