Some randomness for you…
On a grander scale, things suck as much as ever. Of course, you don’t really hear about most of these things from TV or newspapers. Maybe The Voice has a point. The mainstream news is so “packaged” nowadays. Good thing the Internet is forcing change by allowing other voices to be heard.
On the local front, there are no 7-Elevens in Minnesota. No Slurpees for me for a while, free or otherwise. 
I also picked up a Rubik’s Cube from Target the other day. (Actually, I first picked up a Rubik’s Revolution, but that was a total let down! I thought that it was like a regular cube, but with an electronic brain in the center for the extra games. But no, the “Rubik’s cube” shell doesn’t move. It’s JUST the electronic game in the center.) So I opened it up after I got off work today and solved it. I think the last time I did that was in middle school. Right now I’m using the basic layer-by-layer solution taught by the little booklet that came with the cube, but hopefully by the time I fly back to California, I’ll be good enough at visualizing moves in order to use a more advanced solution.
