Waiting For Nothing

Per­haps what I hate most in bad gov­ern­ment are fear-​mongering and secu­rity the­ater. With these, the cit­i­zens give those in power carte blanche to unleash even more ills upon the coun­try and the world. These two pic­tures are old, but still quite good:

The time dif­fer­ence in the first and the total cost in the sec­ond are no longer accu­rate, but the points remain. I can only pray that things will change, and soon. If you saw the Col­bert Report last night, you might have noticed that cer­tain peo­ple in power have noticed that the “War on Ter­ror” is going too well, and are already lin­ing up the next threats for us to fear -
