I failed the chapter as President.
That’s all I could think of last night as the chapter discussed the controversial motion to overturn the SVPs’ decision. It should never have been made. Not because of my personal views on the motion itself, but it shouldn’t have been made because things shouldn’t have gotten to that point.
The whole situation seems to be born of a perfect storm of miscommunication, between offices and even between partners of an office. I thought I had prepared my ExComm better than that.
And even given that horrible miscommunication, bringing up the motion wasn’t a very good idea. I wish the parties involved had talked to me or to the advisers first. I thought I made myself accessible and open to the chapter, but I guess I was wrong, and some people aren’t comfortable enough to bring their issues to me.
Because of these failings, we have good actives who feel betrayed or attacked by the chapter, and are ready and willing to just walk away from APhiO, and that hurts all of us.
No worries dinh. You gotz people who are going to try to fix it. ^_–
