So… today was the first day of Region­als. It was pretty chill, except for the fact that there were a bunch of con­tests we were not pre­pared for at all. So a cou­ple of us looked at us other, and we decided that we don’t like to lose, and we weren’t going to.

First, there was a “chap­ter fash­ion show” where they wanted every chap­ter to dress up in the most out­ra­geous out­fits. We ran to the nearby Wal­mart and the girls got a bunch of t-shirts, wife-beaters, kid-size sun­glasses, bead neck­laces, and a bunch of cheap make-up. Then the guy shad a idea to copy Zoolander’s “Dere­licte” theme. At first, we were going to get card­board boxes from the dump­ster out back, but the girls didn’t really seem to go for that, so we got a bunch of garbage bags instead. Got duct tape to dec­o­rate and styl­ize, of course. The girls still got ran­dom acces­sories and make-up, but put back the t-shirts and wife-beaters. We saved money and looked bet­ter!

Then there was a two model “dance-off” sim­i­lar to the walk-off in the movie. We con­vinced Isaac and Mika to do it. They were hot with their super-poses.

And then there was roll call. Michow was sup­posed to chore­o­graph for us ahead of time, but that didn’t hap­pen, due to finals week. Also, I thought it was going to be at Clos­ing Ban­quet, and we would have time to throw some­thing together and maybe prac­tice a lit­tle, too. But no, it was also tonight. So we threw that together on the spot as well. Isaac MC’ed our remix of “Apache.”

All in all, it was amaz­ing. The best part of going to con­fer­ences is the reminder of just how awe­some Iota Phi is.
