In Darkest Night

So for the last two or three Black Fri­days, I haven’t bought any­thing. The deals have been get­ting worse and worse, and the lines have been get­ting cra­zier and crazier.

This year, I wasn’t plan­ning on get­ting any­thing, either… just wanted to go chill for tradition’s sake. How­ever, turns out no one wanted to get any­thing this year… only Eddie C and Andrew P even wanted to go out. I was still kinda down to go with them. Fry’s sup­pos­edly had a lot of stuff that was free after rebate, and Tommy L said that he could try to hook us up. Called around after I fin­ished din­ner with fam­ily, and the guys came over around 10. Eddie C men­tioned that it was below freez­ing last night in Sacra­mento, and it would be again this night. I said no, thanks. They tried to talk me into it for a bit, but I stood firm, and they took off.

… and then they came back about half an hour later, just to tell me that the line for Fry’s was already too long for them to real­is­ti­cally get a good amount of stuff in there. They did some more research, and decided to head to Vacav­ille Out­lets. There were some decent deals there, and a lot of the stores there opened at mid­night. I still opted out.

I don’t know how peo­ple do it… I heard that Cindy M wanted to line up at the Best Buy by my house at 11 am on Thanks­giv­ing and wait almost twenty-​four hours for the deals. Eddie C was adamant on buy­ing some­thing, even though he had work at 9 am. But then I shouldn’t talk… I ended up splurg­ing some of my win­nings on a new dig­i­tal cam­era. I haven’t had one since The VSA snow trip in early 2004. Iron­i­cally, I didn’t even have a cam­era while I was pledge his­to­rian… I had to always bor­row other people’s. But yeah… It’s been a long time since the days when I car­ried my Canon S40 around in my cargo pock­ets every­where I went. But in a cou­ple of days, I’ll have my Pana­sonic Lumix DMC-​TZ3 to play with!
