In Brightest Day

So just to make things official, who wants to be in on our Biggest Loser challenge?

Here are the rules from the family version of the contest I just had (but with dates changed):

  • Everyone sets a realistic weight goal for themselves.
  • First weigh-in is on January 7th, 2008.
    • You must put $2 into the pot for every pound between your original and goal weights.
  • We weigh-in again every two weeks.
    • If you have lost weight, great!
    • If you have gained weight, add $2 for each pound gained into the pot.
  • Final weigh-in is at the end of the school year — June 9th, 2008 — and hopefully we’ll all be together to celebrate our success!
    • For every pound lost from your original weight, take $2 from the pot — but only up to your original amount.
    • The winner is the person who has lost the most weight, and s/he gets to take the rest of the pot!

These rules worked pretty well for my family, but are up for discussion, as long as we settle everything before the contest starts. Also, I had a simple website for my family that kept a record of everyone’s weights, as well as the money they owed and their BMIs. I can easily adapt it for this version, as well.

  1. Whooo!! This sounds fun! I hope more people will join rather than just you and me. Hahaha. Let’s make a Facebook note too! That would be awesome to get a website running too. I think it helps people stay on track knowing that other people can see their $ owed and BMI haha.

I’m between 5′ and 5’1″ (it’s probably bad posture haha) so I’ll set my goal at 95. (Don’t worry, Jimmy, it’s healthy!) So I start at 104 (although it’s probably higher because of Thanksgiving!!) and I’ll throw down $18 in the pot. Let’s do this thing!

  2. I’m in.
