Butterflies

Man… I’m so nervous about training…

On Friday, we just had lecture for three hours. Yesterday was six hours of practical, and another three hours of lecture, followed by a written test. I aced the test, but I was definitely having some trouble with the practical. I wasn’t quite worst, but I was definitely closer to that than I was to best in class. Especially towards the end. Hopefully that was just fatigue setting in and lack of confidence, and I’ll do better today.

Today is another six hours of practical, with more advanced drills than yesterday. And then a practical test at the end.

Yesterday’s quote comes from the lecture portion of training:

Before the test:

“So, it’s a group test, right?”

- Everyone.

“Yeah, I heard it was group test, open book, with phone-a-friend.”

- Steve (James’ cousin).

“Uh… no.”

- The instructor.

“He guys, just don’t cover your answers, and we’ll cheat off each other.”

- Kay, quietly.

After the test:

“So, it’s a group test, right?”

- Everyone.

“Hey, how’d you guys do?.”

- Steve, showing us his 46.

“For cheating, I think I did pretty good. Better than you!”

- Kay, showing off her 48.

“Man, I lost my place right here and got all messed up… I knew this one!”

- Steve, pointing to a question he got wrong.

“Yeah, I when I saw that, I knew that wasn’t right.”

- Kay.

Man, messed up! She copied off his test and hid her own answers and didn’t even tell him he got something wrong.
