Discrimatory Drugs
So I was watching Ninja Warrior on G4TV today with Vince, and there was a commercial for Valtrex, a drug that’s supposed to suppress genital herpes outbreaks so that it’s no longer contagious. What’s interesting is that there was a disclaimer at the bottom of the screen that said it only works for heterosexual couples.
How does a drug only work on heterosexuals?!

Well, the drug could require a semen with vaginal fluid reaction to catalyze.

I was thinking along the lines of Jimmy’s thoughts. Except I didn’t know how to put it into words. Cus I was just gonna say… maybe it has something to do with the interaction of penis and vagina… but then that sounds really weird. and weird. and weird. So I didn’t want to say anything. Good job Jimmay!

Actually no. From what I’ve heard/read it doesn’t have to do with any such reaction as Jimmy described. It’s because the company has only done enough substantiated testing on healthy, monogamous heterosexual couples. Thus that’s all they can claim. It’s a good first step but they are marketing this drug wrong. It’s going to seem discriminatory and turn off a lot of people. Hopefully additional testing is actually on the way. Also, besides the lack of testing on m/m and f/f couples, testing on only monogamous couples is very limiting. Herpes can be latent and appear later, when you’re with a different partner.
