Fresh Books And Eager Eyes

At home home at the moment. I needed to give my sister her car back, and I figured I’d go home a little early to see the family and have dinner with them, too.

Before I went home, I stopped by the UCD Bookstore to get my textbooks for this quarter, along with some supplies. Which leads to this mini-rant…

I really don’t understand how the Bookstore can be missing required textbooks at the start of the quarter. I was unable to get books for two of my four classes today! I mean, we students put up with a lot of crap from the Bookstore… everything in there is overpriced, and we get absolutely raped on the buy-back and used book programs. But to not have books we need for classes… the Bookstore just failed in its main damn function! I mean, pens and notebooks, UCD hoodies and boxers, Macs and make-up… these are all nice, but really, all I need are my damn textbooks. And it failed to deliver!

But there are some nice things about the Bookstore. Like letting you charge items straight to your student account with your reg card. But even this, they have to screw up by requiring a second form of ID. What the hell is the point of the picture on the damn reg card if we need a second form of ID? Either the picture is proof, and they should accept it as such, or it isn’t, and they should remove it from the reg cards, and save us all a little money on the damn machine that prints those pictures onto the reg cards.

And while I’m on the subject of using the reg card… why don’t all school services accept it? If the Bookstore is able to charge to my student account, why can’t the CoHo? They are both ASUCD enterprises. For that matter, why can’t the Silo? And I’m not talking about that stupid Munch Money program! The idea of a debit card with money that expires is ludicrous!

… anyway, I’m really excited to get back to school. Can you tell?
