My Living Situation

Having a very slow day today. Comcast gave me an appointment for 6 – 8 AM to come and fix the cable internet. Guy showed up at 7:30 and took over an hour to work. Oh, and he swapped the Motorola Surfboard we got with the Self-Install Kit for some crappy RCA cable modem.

Anyway… let me tell you all about my living situation.

You see, it all started two weeks ago… Drama House parted ways, and since Peggy was in New Zealand for her ISV thing, and Drew was back in San Jose for his grandmother’s funeral, and Joe and Ian had summer school shit to take care of, it was basically just Vince, Lesley, and me cleaning up. Oh, and we thought that we would have a two-hour overlap since we were a transfer. (Move into the new place at 5 PM on the 31st, and not have to be out until 7 PM from the old place.) I double-checked on the 30th, and found out we had to be out by 8 AM. So the three of us pulled an all-nighter. Fun!

Since our stuff was packed into our cars to the point where we could no longer get into the drivers’ seats, we just chilled in the lounge all day. Will started bringing stuff over from his place, and we just piled it up in the corner of the lounge. 4:30 came around and we headed over to the office to finish up the paperwork and pick up our keys. Only, they told us the letter that they had sent us was a typo. According to their internal documents, we weren’t scheduled to move in until 5 PM on the 1st. They were nowhere close to being done cleaning the place for us. Awesome!

They told us to come back in a couple hours, but still no luck. Eventually, we realized we were screwed for the day, so we called around for a place to crash. Paul saved us by picking us up in Claire’s big minivan and taking us back to his place to shower and eat. Avalon felt bad, so they sent us a couple of pizzas. They also called in the middle of the night to let us know they worked through the night and were done, and we could come get our keys now. We told them we’d be there in the morning.

So we did our walk-through in a hurry to move in. Will actually got all his stuff in really fast… his room looked lived-in before that night. But then, he discovered a problem… apparently, the previous residents had a dog or something. (We could see the gnaw-marks on the doorframe from when it had to go outside.) Well, Will was extremely allergic and basically would die if he spent the night. Super!

So, Will went to the office and bitched them out. They let us use Sorrento 113 and a garage to temporarily move our stuff out, and they would change the carpets and do a more thorough cleaning before we move back in. They were flexible with the schedule, so Will told them we’d do it after the 15th, so everyone could be done with summer school.

Yep… for the last two weeks, I’ve been living packed since I’ll have to move all my stuff out and back in again. I’m going back to Davis this weekend to do the moving, and hopefully this time, it’ll be for good. :crosses fingers:
