Message Of Love
The site’s back for two minutes and Peggy demands a full-fledged post! Man, if it wasn’t for the money, I don’t know why I’d bother.
So… yesterday…
Woke up and went back to my place. Did the usual morning stuff and went home home. Or tried to. It took forever. I hate driving in Sacramento in the daytime.
When I got there, only my sisters were home. And actually, Dong Ha was on her way to work. Went online and chilled until lunch. My parents came home, some family friends came over, and we had pho. It was great.
What was even better was to see my dad. He had a mild stroke on Thursday, and lost control over the right side of his face. Dong Ha told me that night and I called immediately. He sounded like he was in a lot of pain. Yesterday, though, his face was still weird to see, but he didn’t sound like he was having trouble anymore. He was back to usual, cracking jokes with friends and stuff.
After lunch, did tried to help out and did some chores around the house. Mostly technical support on the many computers. I was actually planning on coming back to Davis as soon as possible after lunch, but the chores took longer than expected, so I stayed for dinner, too. Daddy made moules et frites, a Belgian dish was is basically mussels in a cream sauce with fries. Except we had it with garlic bread instead of fries, since it’s better for dipping.
Headed back to Davis after that. Mommy gave me a big pot of moules to take back. I can’t finish it, so please help me out and come over and have some. When I was around West Sac, got a call from Will F telling me we had a KVIE emergency. We only signed up for the morning shift, but they had us down for the evening shift, too, and desperately needed people to show up. He was already on route, and wanted me to rally the troops and come, too.
Since I had food, had to get to the apartment and drop off stuff first. Found that Will N had moved his furniture out of our room. But he left crap laying around on the floor and on my bed. Hopped on AIM and spammed everyone online. Then I called up the summer service whores, but most people were busy. Stupid midterms and/or moving.
Picked up Drew and Randy and took off for KVIE. Erin was coming from Sac, too, and Angela got there just a little before us, so we ended up with six APhiOers, plus the KVIE execs on the phones, so it wasn’t too bad. And we all got vintage KVIE trucker hats for coming out. Thanks again, service commandos.
Oh yeah, I should put up a quote. Well, yesterday’s comes from when we were discussing funny/prank calls at KVIE.
“I had a lady ask me which one I was, because it had just switched to the view of volunteers taking calls, and I had to tell her I was none of them, because that was actually pre-recorded. She was like, ‘Aw, you’re supposed to say you’re the handsome one!’ “
- Me.
“You ruined her fantasy!”
- Drew.
“Yeah, she won’t pledge as much now.”
- Randy.
“God, just imagine… ‘I’ll pledge an extra hundred if you use your sexy voice.’ “/blockquote>- Drew.
… I was thinking about the rest of the night. And laughing every time I took a call.
Back home. Did some random stuff online. Couldn’t update because DINHternet was down. Talked to Peggy for a while, but she had to prepare a speech for CMN 1 and sleep. So I cleared off my bed, read some Batman, and passed out.
