Do It Again

Man, I was feeling so lazy last night I just dropped as soon as I got home, so here’s yesterday. This doesn’t count as being behind!

Woke up and hopped online. Caught up on a bunch of manga and anime. Thought about the logo Drew wanted me to do, but I had no idea what to do. Talked to Aaron L and we looked at some APhiO letterheads online. They are pretty plain - no cool graphic using our letters. Most are just the crest in the corner, “Alpha Phi Omega” written out in big letters across the top, and then a slogan for whatever event the letter was for under that. Sometimes it’s tweaked and they have the service key in the other corner.

Drew came online and I talked to him for a bit about it. Still didn’t know what to do design-wise, so I looked through the old IPhi website for ideas. Found one that we liked, but it was greyscale, and I wanted it to be color for the website. So first I tried to color it, but that didn’t work very well. Asked Jackie to do it, but she was busy with work. So I ended up just trying to re-create the image in color. After playing around with it, it ended up looking a bit different, but eh… (Here it is, if you want to critique.)

After that, Aaron L asked me to go pay for the Yosemite trip, even though I’m actually not going on the train. He just asked me because I have a car and nothing to do with it. Headed over to the Amtrak station and got the tickets printed. It took a while, because had issues with the names on the tickets, as well as the sheer number of tickets. Our reservation needed to be split in two, because the computer won’t let more than some number of tickets be printed at once. I think she said sixty-five, but I’m not sure. But yeah, we needed eighty-four. Fourteen people with three tickets each way because of train transfers. I felt a bit gangsterish walking out of the station because after she had printed all the tickets for me, she stuffed them into an envelope and handed it to me a bit secretly. Felt like I was a goomba going around collecting “insurance.”

Back home and Drew told me of “the plan” as laid out by Peggy. (Swim, shower, store, and movies. Basically yesterday all over again.) And then she went and broke her own plan. That’s where quote comes from.

“Wait… are you getting food now? Because Peggy is.”

- Me, after Drew had just finished explaining the plan to me.

“What? She laid out the plan! Peggy Sung - Queen of Lies!”

- Drew.

I could but nod at that statement. Meanwhile, Drew and I killed time in non-plan-breaking ways. Soon enough, it was time for the plan to go into effect, so I went over to Drew’s.

The three of us swam for a while. The Eastlake pool is tiny and feels very secluded. I thought I was in the Secret Garden or something. It was cool, though. Didn’t have a million things floating in it like the Greystone pool. And there was this bright orange dragonfly that kept zooming around. I’ve never seen one like that before.

Then Drew and Peggy got hungry, so we continued to phases two and three of the plan. Showered off and headed to Safeway to get some grub. Back to Drew’s place once again, and the thickest spaghetti sauce on Earth was born. I filled the pot with vegetables and meatballs, and basically threw on a little tomato sauce on top to fill in the gaps between them. And Drew made this awesome garlic bread where he used cream cheese instead of butter.

An hour later, when the cooking was complete, it was time to move on to the final phase of the plan - watching more movies. We saw The Eye and The Omen. Definitely a step up from the previous night’s selections.

Went home and passed out after that.

Annette, my boss liked the logo a lot. I think it’s pretty cool too. Good job!
