Hmm… I neglected to put up a post yesterday about my Mother’s Day. I’m going to pretend it was on purpose so I could write about their gifts in it today.
I love my Mommies! (All three of them!
)
OK… so Sunday… woke up on the couch at home still wheezing when my parents were having coffee and reading the paper. They gave me my dad’s inhaler and told me to go sleep on their bed.
Woke up again a little later. Showered and stuff and went out to see if there was anything I could help with. My dad had it under control, though, so I went online and updated. My sisters woke up and I watched Incredibles with them and some of the little munchkins that came over. (My parents had invited family friends over for a big Mother’s Day lunch party.)
Daddy finished up chopping and such around 12, but a guest was late, so we didn’t eat until 1ish. Mmm… hot pot was so good! And then for dessert, my sisters made fruit tortes! Double mmm…
After dinner, the three of us gave Mommy her gift… a pair of Old Navy flip-flops (because she always steals other people’s flip-flops to wear, even though she has her own pairs already) , and a gift certificate to ULTA. Then my sisters gave me some gifts, too. Gio Linh got me a new wallet (complete with a picture of her I can never remove), and Dong Ha got me a funny Sumo wrestler figurine.
And my parents gave me a little something for the wallet.
Took off back to Davis after lunch so I could meet up with Peggy for Mother’s Day shopping. Stupid traffic on I-80, though… it took me just under an hour and a half to get back! And it was backed up from I-5 to the causeway… for no apparently reason! I swear, that pissed me off so much. If there’s going to be enough traffic to make me an hour late, there better be a four-car collision at least! (OK, so I don’t actually want people to be hurt. But you know what I mean!)
So finally got back and squirreled my food away. Then picked up Peggy and Po to check out that house on Drexel that we’re thinking of renting. The yard looks like shit, but the house itself looks to be in good condition. We can’t actually look inside yet, because the agent is out of town. Hopefully we can when he gets back, and we can make a better decision.
Then I took Peggy, Po, and Linda to Walmart. Oh, quote is from the ride there -
“Hey, have you left yet?”
- Me, to Joe M, on the phone.
“No, why?”
- Joe M.
“Oh, just letting you know there’s hella traffic.”
- Me.
“Oh, you left already?”
- Joe M.
“Yeah, I’m taking Peggy and her roommates to Walmart first.”
- Me.
“Hey, who is that?!”
- Peggy.
“Joe M.”
- Me.
“Joe M knows Po and Linda, why couldn’t you say their names?!”
- Peggy.
“From now on, we’ll just call you ‘Peggy’s APhiO friend’ !”
- Linda.
Which they never remembered to do. All night, they would call me “Dinh,” and then someone else would correct them, “You mean… ‘Peggy’s APhiO friend’!”
So at Walmart, we got the card and sand toy baskets for mommies. And the girls shopped for feminine hygiene products and lingerie for days. And Po kept slapping my ass. She hella winds up, too. After that escapade, we met up with Brandon, Eddie L, Emily, Ian, Joe M, Lin, Mabel, Mei, Shannon, Tony, and Tony’s roommate at Baldo’s. I love how we can pull a crowd of at least teens no matter where we go.
Chilled there for a while and then took all the sophomore girls home.
Went back home myself and looked for some company online. Alison had made plans to go out for wiki’s at Café Bernardo’s, but I was hoping we could get a bigger crowd than two. Only person I got to go with us was Mommy Van, though. And she offered to be DD so she could get her kids drunk.
Well, we rolled out to Café Bernardo’s, but they closed at 10. Damn them!
Rolled over to G St, where all the drinking institutions are, and everything was closed except for the G St. Pub. So we went there. It was my first time, actually. I liked. Since I’m not much of a dancer, Cantina’s and such don’t really appeal to me. At G St. Pub, they have a live band, a cool bartender who’s not overwhelmed with a line of orders, and fun games to play! They have a bunch of pool tables and dart boards. We got things started with a round of Gurus and a round of Long Beaches. Got Mommy Van to take a sip of the Long Beach.
Then I suggested playing a game… all the pool tables were taken, so I got Alison and Mommy Van to play darts with me. It’s been so long! I wanna put my dart board back up. Oh well, I’ll do it at the new place. Anyways, we started off with a couple of games of 301. Both of them did pretty well for supposedly not knowing how to play…
??:
Alison kept getting bull’s eyes. I think she won the first game and Mommy Van won the second game. Then we switched it up and played some Cricket. Oh, around then, David called me up, and no one was at the apartment, I guess, so I told him to come to the Pub. I won that game of Cricket, (because I did a poor job of explaining the rules to them) and a game of 8-ball against David (because he was playing while on the phone).
Then one final game of 301, and Mommy Van won again. Damn. We had a little bet going on that last one, too. The loser would have to down a shot of LC, and second place would have to down… I forgot what it was… a raspberry something of vodka base. Taking that LC without chaser was not the greatest. I guess I had a funny look on my face as I was desperately trying to burp up something after that, so we called it a night.
Kinda. Headed back to my place for my leftover Baldo’s. Eddie C, Eddy, and Will N were playing Smash Bros. David came over with Mary, and the five of them stepped outside for a bit. In the meantime, Mommy Van taught Alison and me G, C, and D chords on guitar, so we can supposedly play “Green Day — Good Riddance” now.
Mommy Van took Alison home after that, and I passed out.
