Hmm… got three days to catch up on. I better get cracking. Good thing internet is down, so I have nothing else to do again. OK, that’s a bit of a lie, I DO have more manga to read, thanks to Merry and her endless list of stuff for me, but I figure I should think of you, my diligent readers, before thinking of myself.
So… Friday… woke up around 7:30. Went online for a bit. Got ready for my day, which started with a project in Roseville. Drew picked me up at 9:15 and we were on our way to the Galleria. I haven’t been there in ages. It’s mostly upscale girly fashion shops. And it’s hella far. The project itself was the “Big Brothers Big Sisters Volunteer Boutique.” Basically a volunteer fair in the middle of the mall with a fashion boutique theme. It was pretty cool. We just stood there and answered some basic questions and passed out flyers at the BBBS booth, trying to get more people involved in the program. Also went around during our “breaks” and scoped out the other booths for possible projects for us. Drew and I collected a bunch of flyers and will pass them along at the next ServiceComm.
Came back to Davis and thought about napping, but I would only have time for about 45 minutes’ worth before my next project, and figured it wasn’t worth it. Sadly, I was low on gas and funds, so I used my coin reserve to get enough gas to drive to the project. Tried to pick up Nancy Bui, but turns out she was in the middle of class and had gotten a replacement. Picked up Nhi and headed off to Arden for the other BBBS event, their Great Chefs fundraiser.
We were the first ones there, because I knew there would be traffic on Business 80. Damn, I hate B-80/I-99 so much nowadays. I avoid it if at all possible during between 7 AM and 9 PM. Anyways, we were the set-up crew. Some folks helped with balloons and decorations and such inside. I was with the crew standing around outside helping vendors unload their food and beverage. Wanted to stay and taste some of the stuff, since it looked really good, but that wasn’t our job description, and they sent us packing as the event actually started.
Took Nhi back to Davis. She wanted me to take her to her dorm, let her pack some stuff, and then take her to her BB’s place. Man, so demanding!
After that, went home and chatted online. Sophia C and I were complaining to each other about our allergy symptoms -
“Oh dear… we are competing to see who is the geekier. And sadly, I believe I win.”
- Sophia.
Which IS sad, because while I was standing around outside the BBBS Great Chefs project, the wind picked up and pollen and stuff hit my face and I swear even my cheeks started swelling. I’ve never experienced that bad of a reaction before.
Then the two of us headed to Miss APhiO. Despite there being only three contestants (two of ours, and one IC!) this year, it was a great show. I was very entertained and give it a hearty three thumbs up.
In a perfect world, everyone would be a winner. But sadly, there can only be one, and it was the lovely Miss Pleasure My Peach. Some people say it was the hair, but I maintain it was the talent. People don’t realize just how important the talent portion is! (Birthday Fairy approves, Miss Peach!
)
After the show, went to get some food, then headed to the D4K sweatshop. I left early, though, when Eddie picked me up. David was in town, so of course we had to do something. That something ended up being getting 40s of Steel Reserve and headed to the Takemori house. I downed my 40 and then promptly passed out. Woke up when it was time to go home and crash again. But in my own bed.
Yay for Miss APhiO!!! I think. BTW, I just found this out tonight.… acronym for the winner’s stage name re-affirms manliness…
function acronym(Pleasure My Peach) = PMP!!!
good work, gumshoes!
