Today… got a fortune from the temple. It was #68. Not sure what it means, the priest explained it to my parents in Viet. Had vegetarian phở with the family for lunch. Found out the the recipe is a family secret, and Mom’s afraid it’s going to die out with my generation. She desperately wants me to bring home a girlfriend who will learn how to make it for my kids and all future generations of Luongs to enjoy. Teaching me personally or my sisters how to make it apparently isn’t an option.
After that, chilled with the family and watched Mulan 2 with them. It was a huge steaming pile of crap. I can’t believe the stuff Disney green lights for direct-to-video production.
SPOILER: So yeah, the plot of the movie is that Mulan and Shang have to take three princesses to a neighboring country to wed princes and forge an alliance to prevent the Mongols from attacking. Of course Mulan is opposed to arranged marriages, but decides to follow Shang’s lead. Shang picks Ling, Yao, and Chien-Po to be guards, and they of course fall for the princesses and vice versa. The mission is scrapped for the sake of true love. What about the impending Mongol attack, you ask? Who cares? Disney doesn’t, and they don’t think you should, either, because there is no mention of those guys ever again.
After that, went back to Davis. Chatted online for a bit and then Julie C — I mean, Dinh — picked me up for the Kappa Sigma ice cream social rush event. Everett and Jason G came, too. We met up with James at the Union, and two potential pledges showed up. One of them was Xuong! I haven’t seen that fool in days! We went to Cold Stone on Fair Oaks and chilled.
Today’s quote comes from our conversation in the car ride back:
“This is my favorite song!”- Julie C, as Lil Kim’s “How Many Licks” came on the radio.
No wonder her nickname is JTP* and why she’s in Alice’s line. Anyway, back in Davis, I chatted some more and took care of some mailing list business, then went over to Kitty’s place to watch Kung Fu Hustle with her, Terren, Jane P, Eddie C, Will, and Peggy. That movie is hilarious!
Oh yeah… Peggy translated my fortune for me. (It was written in Chinese.) She says it’s a poem about having a clean house and yard and winning lawsuits and having a cure for my disease. And that the poem means that basically I’m going to have a kick-ass year and can do no wrong. I hope she’s right!
Now I should knock out so I can go table for Kappa Sig tomorrow. But I’m having an interesting conversation with my LB. It might end up as a bonus quote tomorrow. We’ll see.
found you thru aim profile. happy new year (belated, but still happy). may you get not one, but two (or as many as desired) hot girlfriends with big boobs and big money.
